Re: [RC] Saddles - GoToryI've had my Podium for about 4 years- and it was well used when I bought it from Hal Hall, as it was one of the template saddles they were adaping to the US market. I have absolutely loved it and have spent many comfortable hours in it. Have only done limited distance in competitions. I have the Ride and Tie (otherwise known as the RAT) model. Love the Simpatex padding - don't have to use another saddle pad under it, back stays cool, saddle underside can be sponged or carefully hosed off. Have never had a sore back at a vet check or after conditioning rides. Did replace the padding last year as we had a rat problem in the tack room and I was concerned about the places where they'd chewed causing discomfort. I also replaced the seat as the sheepskin was getting thin- was still very usable but I felt like spoiling myself. Had great service from Steve Elliot for the replacement parts- which is an extra bonus as it all comes apart and goes back together with velcro. Have used it for short rides on horses with different kinds of backs and have not had a problem. My mare had the broad flat Arab back and not much whither. Saddle was used in the Sierras at Euer Valley without breast collar or crupper and did not slip on this mares back. Have a friend who has a newer Podium and a horse with a more narrow back and wonderful whithers.... hers has slipped some and she will be selling it as she has found that a dressage saddle works better for him. Any other questions I'll be happy to try to answer to the best of my limited capability. nikki =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
