Not to shatter any fantasies, but given that you just give a horse a 
few drops of the stuff in a bucket of water, I doubt VERY much that 
there is enough brandy to have any effect on anyone's nervous system.  
More like homeopathy than regular medicine, but it's a staple around 
here for any type of creature that is really upset, from birds to 
teenagers to horses.  Seems to help, but I can't say why.
