Re: [RC] 'nother truck poll question - Stephanie E CaldwellThey do, I'm hoping for 400,000 original miles ;) I like the thought of having a new truck, just not the payments! And, my old body style Chevy has a seat long enough for me to sleep comfortable. When they redesigned the Chevy's they shortened the strait seat by three inches. Doesn't sound like much, but it wasn't comfortable laying down. The full size Toyota's are considerably narrower, also. That's a big deal to me since I don't have a LQ trailer and have slept in the bench seat often over the years. I wonder why the don't make a fitted sheet for bench seats? :) I was just having a "discussion" with a guy that told me once I replace the engine my truck will never run /pull as good as the original. Thats why I put this question out to y'all :) I think that it depends on how good of a job you get done building in. My riding buddy just bought a rebuilt Ford Dually. When the rewired it (why we don't know, but they did) it was done wrong, she's spent quite a few hours fixing other people's messes, she thinks the engine should be fine. Her husband just rebuilt his 60 something Chevy, it's going great. Several of her other trucks were projects that she rebuilt, and they all did great. As long as it's done properly then I think that in some cases rebuilt is stronger. Personally I think paying 4-5K for a new engine sure beats the heck out of 30-40K for a newer truck PLUS adding higher insurance pmts PLUS taking on that *EZ monthly pmt plan*. <gasp> I was just wondering what y'alls experience was. My problem with truck shopping is I went and looked at the 1/2 ton Chevy's, 'cause whatever I buy I'll be commuting a 40 - 60 mile round trip daily, depending on which job I take (I'm just going to work out of the family business). But, why spend 28,000 for a decent equiped 1/2 ton, when I can go to a 3/4 decently equiped for an extra 2,000? Or get a stripped work truck type Dually with the "necessities" for me at around 29,000? With me being young commercial insurance is considerably cheaper than personal insurance, too....
