Re: [RC] [RC] ? Western Raised horses out East - Teri HunterI brought 3 horses from Texas to Florida 6 years ago. The older 2 have had no problems. The youngest was a month old and does get the bug problem in the summer. He has not grown out of this. But as soon as he went back to Texas his skin cleared right up. This has been with bug/skin allegies. All of them have developed gnat/no-see-um allergies within the first summer or two of arriving. Of course this is Florida where everything is worse when it comes to skin problems. You may not have a problem in TN. It also could be breed related to some extent... Otherwise, they handle the heat very well, their hooves have adapted to a more sand enviornment, and they seem to do pretty well. I sure do go through alot of fly spray in the summer though!!
