[RC] eggs, water balloons, etc. Where do you keep them while waiting for the horse to rear - Charles

I thought I was the only one.  I was trying to figure out where to keep the egg (or water balloon).

My vest doesn't have pockets but I could balance it sort of in front of me, between the vest and my chest.  I realized that I wouldn't be able to reach that area fast enough to be any good.  The same thing goes for saddle bags, packs etc.  I'll never get to the egg fast enough to do any good.

I thought about just holding it in my hands.  I never learned neck reining and I don't know if Jon does it or not, so I need both hands to direct the horse.  I could hold it in my hand while holding the reign.  However, I know that my first reaction if Jon reared would be to grab the reign and hold on tight.  I just know the egg isn't going to survive my sudden desperate clutch to hold on to the horse.

My pants pockets are out.  I would end up with egg all down my leg and that would just be too embarrassing.

So how do you hold on to the egg till it's needed?

The only way I've figured out is that I attach the egg with Duct tape to the top of the bridle.

Frankly, I cannot see riding along carrying a water balloon or egg waiting for the horse to rear.  Although I often ride with one hand on the reins, or no reins...with a horse that might rear, I definately want both hands on the reins, so that, with leg and weight, I can bend them if they try....
