Re: [RC] Arab/warmblood crosses - Arabs4sprtThank you all very much, I've gotten lots of replies both on and off the list and there were none that were negative about Arab/warmblood crosses. I haven't been paying much attention to the endurance/competitive trail market for my fillies, now I know that I've been missing a very enthusiastic group of people who might love them Especially since their moms are 100% CMK (via Shalimar Arabians and Alice Payne's Asil Arabians), and daddy is an Oldenburg with lots of TB and Arab from French Anglo-Arab breeding. Previously I had been marketing them solely to dressage and hunter/jumper people, and not having much luck because they aren't huge (15 hands as 2 year olds in a market where if it isn't 16.3 it's not big enough). What I've found is pretty much what everyone else has been mentioning, quiet easy-going temperments, combined with great movement, and Arab feet and endurance. Oh and curiosity about all kinds of things. They can't help themselves, anything new in the turnout and they have to go and investigate it. Don't know whether they get that from their moms or their dad. I have to make a videotape for a lady tomorrow who wants to see one of them jump, I've never so much as trotted them over ground poles, so I got a bunch of 2" PVC pipe and put it out in my turnout yesterday. A few hours later they not only had taught themselves how to step over the poles, they were carrying them around the turnout in their mouths playing with them! Silly girls.
