Re: [RC] Breastcollars and other "dangerous" equipment - Lysane CreeI have been following the "to use or not to use" breastcollar thread with interest. Some of the stories that you all have related are of the type that "you never think would happen". But anything sure will and can happen with horses around!! Personally, my "piece of equipment" I just want to ban is the horn on a Western saddle...But YOU can use a saddle with one if you want :) I don't need to rope anything and after breaking the end of my arm bone (in my wrist) because it hit the horn on a Western saddle when the horse I was riding turned into a bronco, I've had enough of them. I've had the horn hit me a couple times in the lower belly when a horse would do a major spook and after the last incident I had bruises on my lower belly about the size and width of the edge of the saddle horn, since I stayed in the saddle the whole time the horse was bucking. Oh sure I got her under control and didn't get thrown, but oh my did that broken arm hurt. Everyone else around me though trail rides in a Western saddle and nothing else. I'll stick to my English style NO HORN saddle any day. :) Just my two cents...
