Re: [RC] Using breast collars on flat trails... - Heidi SmithActually, I was thinking the breast collar did not cause the accident, but the rider did for getting so darn close to the truck mirror in the first place. But, I was not there...just picturing in my mind what it would take to get my horse over, close enough to a truck to catch the breast collar on a mirror. Especially one that was properly adjusted. But as we know, with horses, anything is possible. Crowded camping situation, horse moved when she got on. She started off back by the front of the gooseneck, and out a bit from the truck--but horse went forward and sideways a few steps. Yes, perhaps hard to visualize--but it happened, nonetheless. I got a bird's-eye view.... (I've certainly had things happen as I mount that have caused the horse to move a few steps from where we started out. Similar scenario is what got my horse's hind hoof stuck in a grate at Magic Mountain, and I sure would have said that was impossible when I swung on, too. Nope--misjudgment on my part. Yep, with horses, anything is possible.)
