[RC] Using breast collars on flat trails... - Jonni Jewell

I use a breast collar on all rides, every horse. Used to live in an area
with mountains, but am now in flatter Texas. But still use a breast collar,
and usually a crupper. They are well fitted, well adjusted, and cause no
problems. They are synthetic, so easy to clean at the end of the ride. I
also feel they are a little extra safety precaution we can do to keep the
saddle where it should be. I would NEVER ride without one in a ride with
hills and mountains, yet some folks do.....and I have seen the problems come
up because they did not have one.

(also, if your saddle rolls some while mounting, they can help to steady it
some)

Jonni (crupper breaking the young (built like a barrel) horse AGAIN, as he
forgot what one was, and has a ride in the mountains coming up)
