[RC] archives and betadine (vet question) - A. Perez1. No posts have made it to the archives since 8/3. I read 2. I read here that instead of using hydrogen peroxide to clean wounds, it is better to use diluted betadine. How dilute? My gelding has an abcess that ruptured (infected tick bite?), but is still full of junk. The pocket was probably the volume of a golf ball. I want to flush the dead tissue and junk out so as to leave as little scarring as possible. I don't have a syringe, so will use some sort of squirt bottle. Also, he has a similar cyst/abcess that has not ruptured/drained. Should I leave it alone, use antibacterial creme, or get a vet to lance it? Does not seem to bother him and is not in the way of any tack. Please email me directly as the archives are not up to date. walkergirl <at> ureach <dot> com ________________________________________________ Get your own "800" number Voicemail, fax, email, and a lot more http://www.ureach.com/reg/tag =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= http://www.endurance.net/ads/seabiscuit.html Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
