Re: [RC] Stone bruise/what to do? - Steven ProeHi Laurie: You may wish to soak the affected foot in a bucket with warm to the touch water with 2 lbs of Epsom salts dissolved in the warm water. Soak for at least 15 minutes twice a day or more if you can, If you horse is out in the rain use a boot to try to keep it as dry as possible. If you can use a boot you can put in a small amount of 1/4 inch. of wet epsom salts into the boot. Do not allow it to be higher than 3/4 of a inch inside of a boot. This will both toughen the hoof and dry up any injured stone bruise area. Two weeks should be sufficient. Take care to use rubber gloves or you will be taken for a rough neck with very touch callused hands.
