Re: [RC] [RC] New Truck (Nina) - oddfarmI second that! I have the 2002 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4, with the Duramax and Allison transmission. I pull the BAT (Big ass trailer) and have been very happy. I have been to Big South Fork, Smoky/Leatherwood Mountains and every where in-between. When in Tow/haul mode, it slows down so nicely I barely have to use the brakes. I know Roger thinks only big trucks can pull the big trailers, but I have felt very safe with this combo. It is a big truck, in a regular size body. I know you didn't ask for advice on the GMC/Chevy model of trucks, but I have to relate my experience anyway. I have a 2002 GMC, diesel, 1 ton dually, 4x4. I pull a 32' 8' wide Sundowner that is just under 10k lbs unloaded. I am thrilled with the performance of my truck. I believe it is the only one ton truck that comes factory equipped with an exhaust brake. I travel in and across the Cascades whenever I haul, so that was an important feature. My friend, who has a Ford and the same trailer I pull, added a Jake brake. The dealer voided her warranty on her transmission (which has blown 3 times before the truck had 30k miles) eventhough she had the Jake brake installed at a Ford Dealership. I also like the hauling capacity. The GMC/Chevy has more hauling/stopping capacity than the other 1 ton trucks (at 26,400 GCVW). It also comes factory equipped with a transmission cooling system and transmission heat gague which are things I would have added to either the Dodge or Ford. karenI'm going to purchase a new truck... 1Ton Dually 4door Diesel Dodge/Ford?. Any advice/suggestions and or comments/recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I live in So CA (Thousand Oaks) area. Please email me privately caballos@xxxxxxx Thank you.
