Samamtha, how old is your son? My daugher
started in our little sport saddle, training and schooling, size 14" seat, when
she was about 6 years old, worked great, as that model has a deeper seat.
I also had a fleece cover on the top....You can also put a piece of foam between
the back of the cantle and the cover, to make the seat a bit smaller, but this
saddle worked great for both my daughter AND the dippy-backed pony. Why
get anything else?
We had started with a childs Aussie saddle.
Only thing I liked was the security it offered with the poley's, but as with
most Aussies, it sat too far up above the back of the horse, and was
tippy.
Hi, I am looking for a saddle for my son and pony.
I ride in a Sports Saddle and love it. I am a heavyweight and the
longest distance I've gone is 7 miles mostly walk with a little trotting, but
so far my horse and myself are very comfy in this saddle. I would like
to get a treeless for my son. The only one I have found that offers a
child's saddle at a lower price than the larger saddles is Torsion. My
concern is the stirrup placing, as they attach by a single strap across the
horses back. If anyone has experience with this saddle and horse comfort
please email me. Samantha Pierce
