[RC] LD to receive same recognition? - Deanna German(Now that it's almost August and I finally received my EN...) Right there in the first paragraph of the LD news page, Bryan Gran says that as a recent appointee to the LD committee, he wants LD riders to be treated with the same fairness (I have no problem with that), consistency (no problem), and recognition as the 50-mile and up riders. He wants LD riders to get the SAME RECOGNITION as 50+ mile riders? That's the biggest load of bull crap I've read in ages!! Sorry, Bryan, I vehemently disagree! 50 miles in a day is a lot more than an LD. As the mileage increases, so does the magnitude of the accomplishment. So should the recognition. Those who ride 50+ miles should get even more recognition! Bryan, I think you've got a skewed view of what the LD membership wants. As an LD rider myself, I don't place a priority on any of the things you've outlined in your article. I do place a priority to being able to ride endurance rides on a regular basis. LD's can help me reach that goal, and I'm glad they are available. I joined an endurance organization to take part in endurance. Don't water down the sport.
