Re: [RC] Snakes on Trail - Maryanne Stroud GabbaniWe have some fairly amazing snakes here and I have to confess that I haven't gotten to know the kinds. The fellaheen don't bother to learn the types (as is the case with most Egyptians) and they simply kill any snake that they see. I try to keep this to a minimum, at least on my property. As far as I know, we don't have any really aggressive snakes, although we do have some very poisonous ones. I've seen a few while alive and they are usually in a bit of a hurry about leaving. None of my horses could be bothered about snakes, and actually I worry more about the dogs. But there's nothing like riding past an Egyptian cobra that is about 5" in diameter as it slides into the grass. Maybe I'm warped, but I thought it was really cool.Maryanne Cairo, Egypt On Friday, Jul 25, 2003, at 04:24 Africa/Cairo, Susan Garlinghouse, DVM wrote: Ok, some might be a little odd because I really like >snakes and am a >herpotologist specializing in snakes. >If you live in the land of > rattlesnakes like I do, you do >want to take precautions. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
