Re: [RC] Mojave Greens - Barbara McCraryI can vouch for that statement! Two years ago I had the most promising endurance horse I ever rode bit by a rattlesnake while standing in his paddock. He is still unsound and has a big bump on his pastern. It has cost me somewhere in the neighborhood of $2,000 to heal the wound and have extensive diagnostic workup at UC Davis to find out exactly what is making him lame and what to do about it. The prognosis isn't good....massive scar tissue at the injection site, causing nerve damage. Because venom breaks down all forms of body tissue and triggers a massive antibody response, swelling, scarring, muscle loss, nerve damage and amputation often result. The bill: $20,000 to $40,000 and anywhere from 20 to 120 vials of antivenin. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
