[RC] [Guest] \My Thoughts on LDs as a 1st time LD ride Manager - Ridecamp GuestMary Coleman caf@innernet First I must say I have never agreed with the LD rides. I have been to the SE and MW and indeed they are races. I still have visions of the Hallelujah ride where the LDs were turned loose down the same dirt road as us 100s were coming in after the first loop. Trust me it was not a pretty sight at all. However one must go with the flow as ECTRA learned and for the first time ever this organization is giving mileage credit to LD riders. I'm not sure if this is why so many came to the TCV-USA east ride or just sheer boredom from lack of rides. However 54 signed up for the 25 miler which I laid out very simply a 121/2 mile loop done twice. For ECTRAS mileage it must be completed in 3/12 to 5 hours ride time. Might I say the LDs were impressive all finished in that time range and none had trouble following the trail. Only three were pulled due to lameness and three due to overtime. This course could have been done a lot faster but these riders used the LD for what it is suppose to be a learning experience. I hope a lot of them did indeed learn and maybe move up to a 50 one day.
