[RC] flat tires and jacks - Jonni Jewell

AND, as mentioned by Lynne, the Jiffy Jack doesn't work if you lose both
tires on the same side of the trailer at the same time. Personally, I
wouldn't DEPEND on one even on a trailer with a suspension for which it does
work; however, this doesn't mean that I don't own one or wouldn't use it in
situations where it does work. In situations where they do work, they are
much quicker and easier than most other types of jack.<<<

If one did have the misfortune of having TWO flat tires at once, 99% of us
are gonna be waiting for roadside assistance anyway, so the type of jack you
have is a moot point. How many of us actually carry TWO spare tires for our
trailers....many folks seem to not even carry one...which just amazes me. As
soon as I get a bad tire, and that spare goes on, I am off to either get the
tire fixed, or buy a new one. Driving around without a spare any distance
makes me real nervous. I do have a second wheel for a second spare, just
have not gotten the tire for it yet. Decided a second spare is not such a
bad idea for the longer road trips....especially to events that are out in
the boonies...far away from any major cities.

BTW, Sears has a small floor jack, that was about $40 I think. Not a bad
piece of equipment to have along if one has the space....but not as easy to
store out of the way as my Jiffy Jack!
