Re: [RC] LYTE NOW - Truman PrevattWhen I called them they were also very helpful. They said the product has a two year shelf life and reccomend you not use it past it's shelf life. There is a way from the lot number to tell when it was made, but I don't remember it. If you are going to use it, it's a good idea to know the code since the product I got from a tack shop was out of date when I got it! It probably also helps to buy it from places that turn a lot over so it doesn't lay around in their store for a long period of time. They also told me that if it is black don't use it - that's a sign of mold and mold will grow in that much salt if it has gotten hot. I've had it dry and just added water to it with no problem.I've debated about it and have decided to stick with powdered product that I can mix right before I ride instead of using premixes - any premix not just Lyte Now. They will all have some of the same risk or problems. Part of this is because of my experience and part is I am not going to give electrolytes any longer without some Malox and if I'm going to mix in Malox I might as well start with the powder.
