Re: [RC] Truck for Trailer - Roger RittenhouseKaren Yes you are correct.. The mid duty comm trucks are just great Fl-60 and the like BUT no 4x4. I really MUST have 4x4. So our only real options are Ford F450 or F550 They have good ratings that most would NOT exceed Also I think the 4 dr was over kill and it took 200 pounds from the load Ford lists for a 4x4 ext cab dual rear wheel auto with a 4.30 rear F450 26K GCW 17400 GVWR Ford only makes the F550 in 4dr or reg cab reg cab F550 26K GCW 17700 CVWR but only with a 4.88 rear. no top speed F650 not sure if it had 4x4 40k CW with 26K gvw now THAT will be difficult to overload even for an endurance rider. For now I would go with a F450 Brakes are 2 in larger dia then F350/250 and a different larger chassis and suspension. While I do not care for a flat bed - there are a number of after market companies who install great looking pickup truck beds on the F450, the cost is about $3800 The F450 will handle almost like a F350 so it can be used as the day use truck. In my case it is. So a big truck would not work out well for me. Roger R KS> So, what sort of truck does one get for a trailer that is over 24'?
