Re: [RC] 'don't hackamores work by cutting off breathing?' - A. Perez"Don't hackamores work by cutting off the breathing? Thanks you guys -- I always learn from you. Lori" Nope. They work by exerting pressure on the nose (with the noseband, the chin (with the curb strap or chain). The length of the shanks determins how 'harsh' the hack will be, as with a shanked bit: shanks are like levers, and the longer the lever, the more pressure is generated. BUT...if YOU feel that your horse stops and steers OK with the bitless bridle, ignore your instructor and stick with it. 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'. If you don't want to listen to her nagging, use a bit for lessons only or find a new instructor. Or you might let her try riding your horse herself so she can see that the bitless works OK. ________________________________________________ Get your own "800" number Voicemail, fax, email, and a lot more http://www.ureach.com/reg/tag =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
