Re: [RC] Why didn't you ride Tevis this year? - Jonni JewellFrom: "heidi sowards" I thought the entries were down because this was the first year you had to qualify in order to enter? True? But I personally do not believe that would keep almost 75 riders away. Often, early in the year, there is a waiting list, but by ride time, folks have dropped out, and the ride will start somewhere around 220 riders. This year they started 150 riders, and never did have a waiting list during the year. 2002 started 216 riders, 2001 they started 225. The qualification requirement was not that tough.... Riders must be qualified by having completed distance-riding competition. For participation in the 2003 Ride, you are qualified if you have completed 150 miles of competition in AERC, NATRC, or foreign equivalent rides of 50 miles or longer or you have completed The Tevis Cup Ride.<<< Goodness, if that kept 75 or so riders off the trail, I personally am glad it did. No...I think there are other reasons, which is why I was asking.
