[RC] Big South Fork - Tina Hicks<chiming in a bit late> I have ridden both the ride and at BSF for vacations many, many times - it's my favorite place to ride and overall I would call the terrain fairly moderate. I have ridden my horse barefoot up there many, many times - up to 50 miles over 2 days (albeit not at an actual ride though). There are hills but they don't last too long and they are well worth it for the views of the gorge and the valley. The footing is rocky in certain parts - going up and down the hills and down along the river it's very rocky but if you are on top it's mainly dirt/sandy soil with very few rocks. If you email Karen (RM) she can tell you which day is a bit easier. In past years, one day is primarily on the top and one day starts on top and goes down along the river and comes back up a long, rocky climb. I don't remember what the third day was like the one time I did it and the last time she had a 3 day there (2000 I *think*). Just for reference, I'm in north AL - we have moderate terrain here - nothing like what Angie trains on :), but not totally flat either. -Tina =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
