Thank you for your assessment...this is the kind of information I am
interested in.  Tough but doable AND able to be done BETTER by the best
horses with smart riders.  THANKS!!  :)

Maggie asks: Maybe this is a dumb question but...why do we need to

decrease the
difficulty level?  Is it a certainty that the difficulty level caused the
low completion rate?  I guess I just figure a championship ride should be
tough.  Tough but doable.  If we take out the heat factor for October and
add more water stops as they have planned to do, won't that help with the
completion rate?  Just asking questions and wondering what others think.
What DO people want in a championship trail?

Maggie - my idea of a challenging trail is one that will separate the best
horses and riders over the time allowed, without a high likelihood of
causing physical harm to any of the horses. A trail that requires some
strategy to do well. A trail that is simply 'hard on horses' and 'only the
strong survive' is not, imo, desirable. I would hope to see a course where
most horses can complete within the allotted time, but the best horses and
most strategically savvy riders will do better.
