Re: [RC] girth galls - Heidi SmithWhile on the topic--what IS the "proper place" for the girth rings/buckles to sit? Well, we ride exclusively English-type saddles (we've both had Stubbens in years past, but are currently in Wintec's Pro Endurance) and the buckles are clear up under the knee. We use Woolback girths, and the fuzzy part meets right up with the bottom of the saddle pad, so there is no buckle area to chafe at all. Nonetheless, one can get the occasional problem with the horses with that excessive movement in the skin ahead of the girth.
