laurie,  dont take this the wrong way, i mean it in good spirit.   you are just worrying way too much.  just go do a ride, get out there and do it!  life is too short not to have the experience.  sounds like you are trying to decide if you really want to fish, or just "cut bait".  you  dont have to go fast and  your horse doesnt have to be perfect. if you wait until all the time, conditions and circumstances are just right, then you will still be waiting, not riding!  also, there are lots of nice people out there who will support  you and help you along.   ed
