[RC] Saddle - best value & comfort? - Benedikte WhitmanI tried the Isabell and loved it except for one thing - the stirrups are set very far back - almost 2 inches further back than some English saddles. The net effect is that when going down steep downhills it is almost impossible to keep your feet under you because they are so far back. It was a shame because I loved the comfort of the saddle and going uphill was a dream. I now use a Wintec dressage Pro saddle instead. It is almost as comfortable, spreads the weight as well, but does not have that stirrup problem. It also comes in CAIR, with changeable gullets, and is significantly cheaper than the Isabell. It's a synthetic saddle with a deep secure seat with optional knee blocks. You can change out the gullet in about 15 minutes to fit your individual horse with their special gullet system. You can also get the saddle with the optional "CAIR" system, which are air panels that add more comfort and even support along the horses back (I would highly recommend this for endurance riders). I just purchased one with the CAIR system for $850 (I ride english) and several other riders in my area have done CTR and ER's with this saddle and love it. Unlike a traditional "English" saddle it covers a lot of area on the back.
