I've got lots of photos to do something with, and am waiting for the results to post on the website. We've been told it was 106 degrees out there. I never did see you after you passed us in the morning, how did your ride go? We were doing pretty good all day, but obviously went too slow in the morning, then trotted into the last vet check too quickly (we took almost 9 1/2 hours to go 34 miles). Chief came down to 60 right away but then his pulse went up so we sponged him down (thanks Steve) and he cooled down but failed his cri at 56/64. There was no way we could have finished the last 14 miles in 2 hours anyway. I think even if we would have made the vet check a half an hour sooner it wouldn't have mattered, we were just too slow, too hot, needed more H20 (sooner). I was thinking all day that we were doing okay since there were at least 5 riders behind us, including Trilby. The friend I rode with also pulled, and so did everybody behind us, except Trilby and Carla who finished the course OT. I am going to put together a photo CD of over a hundred photos of the trail, once I get them sorted. It was a really pretty ride, looking at the trail now I can see why it was so difficult -- there were a lot of climbs and not much flat. k =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
