RE: [RC] Saddle - best value & comfort? - Christina SchiroHas anyone else tried a Wintec Dressage Isabell saddle? It's a synthetic saddle with a deep secure seat with optional knee blocks. You can change out the gullet in about 15 minutes to fit your individual horse with their special gullet system. You can also get the saddle with the optional "CAIR" system, which are air panels that add more comfort and even support along the horses back (I would highly recommend this for endurance riders). I just purchased one with the CAIR system for $850 (I ride english) and several other riders in my area have done CTR and ER's with this saddle and love it. Unlike a traditional "English" saddle it covers a lot of area on the back. Hi, I'm growing increasingly disgusted with the saddle I bought a year or so ago, around the time I bought my horse. Being new to distance riding, I thought that just because a saddle had "endurance" in the name, it would be comfortable. Even after having a saddle fitter adjust it to my horse, we're both still having problems. 'Nuff said about old history... My horse is a 7yo 850# 14.2h Arab/Rocky Mountain Horse, and he's gaited. He takes a medium-wide tree, I'd guess. Not only does the new saddle need to fit him really well (which of course is obvious) and give him lots of shoulder room so he can really stride out, but *I NEED* a really really REALLY comfortable seat for my bony butt. I also need the stirrups to be back far enough so I can get my feet under my hips. We're currently doing both CTR (up to 2-day 50's) and Endurance (up to 50) but we're doing it all slow - this is our hobby not our profession! I have a very small budget... as in, will have to pay with several different credit cards. I'd love to find something used because it would be less expensive, but I suspect it would be like me buying shoes at Good Will... it wouldn't "break in" to his back like a new saddle would. (Am I wrong?) Does anyone have any thoughts for me in this search? What brands are a really good value when they're new? What brands might fit OK even though they're used?
