Re: [RC] mildew and tack - Sisu West RanchMildew is vey sensitive to copper. An old fashioned, but very good, treatment is to saddle soap then dry the leather. Then apply with a cloth a little water solution of Copper Sulfate (used to be called green vitriol). I can't remember the exact proportions but probably less than 1% (say about 1/4 oz per quart). Just wet the cloth, then wring out and wipe over the leather. If you save the cloth, you can wipe it dry over leather as a preventative. I don't have a source for Copper Sulfate. Try a drugist, or a friend that is a chemist or chemistry teacher. While I wouldn't drink copper sulfate, it is not particularly dangerous to people.
