Re: [RC] Trailer tieing - Heidi SmithPlease don't anyone tie your horse to a trailer with the rope long enough so he can roll unless you cover the wheels someway. I watched a horse roll and get his foot caught in the space between the top of the tire and the fender. A freak accident, but the resulting injury was serious. Julie Suhr My two guys that routinely rolled at the trailer would do so on a rope barely long enough for them to touch their noses to the ground--routine length for many (if not most) endurance horses. They were extremely savvy about how they did it--had to be, not to get hung up, with no more rope than that. And because of the length of rope, they always did it at a 90-degree angle to the trailer--legs never pointed underneath at all. I don't imagine most horses would even try it, on that length of rope. BTW, the two who did that were father and son. Heidi =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
