[RC] will I ever get used to Arabs? - SundaezJust got my mare back from training a few days ago. I had written before how athletic she is and how it's taking some getting used to. Geez I feel like such a beginner still when I ride her. It's like riding a cat. I can't post her trot and get all off balance and then of course get all tense. One of my bad habits is leaning forward at the trot...which tenses her up and makes her choppy... and speedy. She's so quick and responsive. My other horses (non arabs) feel so heavy after riding her. I've started taking dressage lesson on her just to get a more centered seat. Also I want to learn to sit her trot dressage style, not that I'd use that for endurance but just for security. I'm already relearning the "proper" way to roll my hips...I've been doing it wrong for years. The goal is to be able to do it at a trot. This mare is going to be fun if I ever get her out on the trail. I feel so unbalanced that any major spook will probably find me on the ground. Words of encouragement are greatly appreciated...again <g> I have a whole new appreciation for those of you who ride spunky arabs. It sure kicks it up a notch. One more thing...I bought an Abetta endurance saddle on an arab tree.. The pommel "almost touches her wither...but not quite. Does it seem too wide? It rolls when I try to mount. She wears a zilco collar and a woolback pad. Any suggestions (except spend 2K on a "real" saddle). I have 5 saddles now that don't fit as it is.
