[RC] [Guest] Mackinder saddle - Ridecamp Guest

Julie Cheney jacheney@xxxxxxxxxxx

I tried a Mackinder saddle the other day it belongs to a gal in San Jose. I
believe she has it for sale on EBay and www.Bayequest.com. Its a great
idea, but the saddle is too narrow. The gullet is also very narrow, less
than 2 inches so won't allow adequate spinal clearance. It was too narrow
for my high withered slab-sided National Show Horse. It wouldn't even sit
down on her back. I don't know any horse that would be narrow enough for
it. I realize it's supposed to "give" and "break-in" but there's no way it
would give enough to fit my horse. The one nice thing about it is that it
is designed for a high withered horse. It's also a very pretty saddle.
