Re: [RC] Vet phobia - DESERTRYDR1Try a female vet before you send her off to a male trainer. My mare, now nine, has never liked men since I boarded her with a couple in the middle of a divorce, and the man got custody of the boarding place. She was born on the place, and the split up happened when she was about 6 mos old. It took a LONG time for my male farrier to be able to handle her easily although she never out and out kicked with the intention of hurting someone, just practiced MANY forms of evasive action. The current boarding stable owner can't catch her, he's a man. Any of the women can walk right up to her. Your filly may be reacting to the smell of antiseptic, etc, in which case it won't matter man or woman, but it's worth a try to see if a good female vet can handle her before sending her off to someone. jeri =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
