Re: [RC] [RC] Vet phobia - Laurie DurginYep, I'd try anything. My mare is iffy about men, a farrier smacked her once and she took forever to get over that. And she isn't real thrilled with my present farrier. She just 'questions" men.You might also have a male type come give her treats only; then , add the 'equipment". Seeing another horse she is attached too, work with men may help too. I let my mare 'watch" her mate get his shoes done , I swear she 'watches" and seemed better after watching the geldings get theirs. Lots of positive experience with men seems to be the need. The 'fake' vet exam is not a bad idea also. I had to work up to syringing, using tiny steps to Rascal, he was very suspiousous, but the colt Scout ,just took it first time with applesauce. No big deal. He had never been forced. That seems to be the thing with some Arabs, they say you can 'ask' them , but if tyou force you will get a fight.
