Re: [RC] was Stallions now bad behavior at checks - Tina HicksOnly after the horse just about knocked the vet and the owner down...more than once :( Tina On Tue, 10 Jun 2003, Heidi Smith wrote: You know, when I was at Chicken Chase there was a horse who was so poorly behaved the owner had to ear-twitch him for the vet to finish the exam :( The vet didn't even make any comments to the owner about the behavior. If those horses were pulled a time or two for obnoxious behavior their owners would either put some time into basic handling skills or leave the sport and quit endangering everyone around them.Well, as a ride vet, I'd sure rather deal with a horse whose owner CAN and WILL control him by ear twitching, than some of those "sweet" things that run over the top of me while the owner is oblivious, or standing there doing something ineffective, like squeaking "whoa, whoa." At least the ear-twitching owner took (apparently) appropriate measures to get the job done!
