Backcountry Horseman of America is an excellent organization dedicated
to keeping trails open for stock use.  The Mission Statemement of BCH
states: 1.  Perpetuate the common sense use and enjoyment of horses in
America's back country.  Work to ensure that public land remains open
for recreational stock use.  2.  Assist the various government and
private agencies in their maintenance and management of said resources.
3.  Educate, encourage and solicit active participation in the wise and
sustaining use of the back country resources by horsemen and the general
public.  4.  Foster and encourage the formation of new state backcountry
horseman organizations.     If you are interested in joining an
organization that is getting something done contact the national BCH at
1 888 893 5161 or email me and I will give you a contact for a state
chapter.  Most of the western states have BCH chapters as do Illinois,
Indiana, North & South Carolina and Missouri.
