Re: [RC] What did your horse teach you??? - Sarah WGreat topic - it is something I actually think about daily! My first horse, Nimmy, was with me for such a short time that he didn't get to teach me a whole lot. I received him when I was around 12, and he was a yearling double reg. QH/Buckskin colt. Unfortunately, he somehow managed to shatter his shoulder after 2-3 mths of owning him. My next horse is the real teacher... Jumper - a spitfire of an ArabX yearling, wild and untouchable. In the 10yrs Jump has been at my side, he has taught me humiliation, despair, and the true meaning of pain. But, he has also taught me hope, joy, pride, unconditional love, loyalty, patience, and the true meaning of lifelong friendship - friendship with no hold backs. I not only managed to tame his wild ways, but also figured out how to train a horse under saddle and how to really RIDE - something that a lesson horse just couldn't demonstrate to me. We have gone from the local show rings under all disciplines to parades to extensive trail riding and camping. He is my lifelong partner, has seen me through my teenage years, bad relationships (most of which he didn't care for my partner of choice - I should've listened!), rough times, and smiling moments.
