Fwd: Re: [RC] managment and completion awards - sharp pennyExactly! A completion award should be something to strive for and tangible proof that on that day you and your horse did what it took to complete that trail within all the perameters. You darn sure don't see the OD, Tevis or Big Horn completion buckles just given to whoever happens to show up. These are coveted completion awards and rightly so. You know anyone sporting one of these COMPLETED that trail to AERC standards. Why should any other ride be different?? I'm all for offering something with the ride name or logo FOR SALE to those that just want a momento of the ride or give to their crew in appreciation. It's very easy to have X amount of shirts, koozies, mugs, towels, keychains or whatever printed with the ride logo and date then Y amount made up exactly the same way but without the date. Then sell those without the date on them to anyone who desires some rememberance of the ride. these awards can keep indefinatly to be sold or given to volenteers. Regards, Penny I applaud the concept of consolation prizes, participation T-shirts, whatever--but is it going to take protests from riders who DID conquer the course with healthy horses and EARN completions to get RMs to quit giving so-called "completion" awards to folks who didn't?
