He's probably right....you will get used to her. And
there are LOTS of times I KNOW I don't look like I know what the heck I'm doing
on a horse!! :) Esp. sitting in the middle of the road with the
reins in my hands!! :) Malik and I have gone through all that
without the benefit of a trainer...some of it is "light and responsive" and
some of it is "Let's have fun with Maggie"...RIDE. Go out and RIDE.
A LOT! You'll do better. You'll probably come off a few times
but I'd rather come off because I am too slow responding to my horse than
because my horse is a jerk and PUTS me off. Though sometimes I wonder which is
which. :) Pretend you are confident. Pretend you can
fly. Pretend your horse would NEVER do anything to hurt you... the horse
will believe it, too. :) Hang in there. You'll DO it!!!

P.S. Ride at home in the pasture or round pen or
wherever until you believe all that stuff...then slowly start going farther and
farther afield.
