[RC] LD + Speed - Val NicosonYes that is true, but we "The Rider" controls the speed of the horse. NEVER are we to let the horse control the speed..... ---Sometimes the rider wants to go faster than the horse is ready for. SusanB--- Then there are those where the horse wants to go faster than the rider. Granted, the "Rider" should control the horse's speed and that is fine. However, when a newbie LD rider rides an experienced horse used to being a front runner...does this not change the perspective? Will soon be doing my first-ever LD 2-day 50 miler (25 miles both days) on a 50-mile horse who is a "front" runner and the horse's owner will be riding a younger 7 yo horse doing his first competition. This 50-mile horse is a front runner, have been riding him for 9+ months now and am ready (I think... yikes). Either way, am "game" for the experience, fun and thrills :-) Would do a one-day 50-miler but owner and her friend advised doing a 2-day 50 instead as this particular horse is quite strong during the first loop...and considering this is my first-ever LD endurance ride. Happy trails, Val :-) __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
