Re: [RC] Question on worming my new horse - Barbara McCraryOne of our horses came through the winter with a rough coat and our vet recommended the Panacur purge followed by Ivermetin 30 days later. It worked. Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: <sboyd1@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, May 25, 2003 8:41 AM Subject: [RC] Question on worming my new horse I bought a 5 yr. old endurance prospect last week and just got him home. The previous owner said he was wormed with ivermectin a few times last year, but couldn't remember when. He has not been wormed this year. He was running on 20 acres with one other horse. He doesn't look "wormy" at all but I know he is way overdue. My other horses got the 5 day Panacur purge in mid-April and are scheduled for ivermectin July 1st. Should I go ahead and do the Panacur purge now, and then give him the ivermectin with the other horses on 7/1? Or is that too much? I'd appreciate some input on this, especially from Dr. Garlinghouse.
