[RC] a little peeing problem - Rides 2 Far

When Gambler started to show signs of not peeing, that was one of
the first > things we thought about (tying up). But watching him walk and
then he was > hungry we thought otherwise.

My riding buddy's horse tied up so bad he couldn't take a single step
with a rear foot. We were in an open field when his rear end totally
locked up. He had a pulse of 32 and ate every blad of grass that he could
reach while waiting on the vet. He looked totally unconcerned about his
non-functional rear end other than irritated that he couldn't step
forward to get more grass. This was a case where he tied up at the very
beginning of a ride.

On the "strange peeing" thread. We had an interesting reaction to our
horses doing 50 miles in deep sand. A friend's horse and mine had the
same symptoms the next week. They didn't let down at all to pee so when
they urinated they sprayed their whole belly. I don't know if it was
sore muscles in their back or irritation in the sheath. Both recovered
just fine.
