Re: [RC] [Guest] [RC] crossing water with a green Arab - Maggie MieskeThis is an interesting view...I took a centered riding lesson once with Malik. I learned that he can drop his head and relax...if I drop MY head and relax. I was riding with my head too far "up" which was causing my neck aches. I learned to tip my head as if balancing a feather on my helmet instead of holding up a piano and oila! Malik will drop his head and relax, too. I also had some issues from having come off a couple of times in deep sand or nasty footing. She taught me to look ahead down the trail...took a LOT of practice but now I can tell Malik "Watch your feet" without grimacing and expecting a stumble and he can trot and canter through footing which would have made me pee my pants two years ago! But it took a lot of practice...MENTAL and PHYSICAL!! And if I fail to visualize anything but success through this kind of footing, YUP, he will trip or stumble!!! :) Maggie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
