Kahil was a small tough horse and Joe was a small tough rider. We had more fun, he would sing southern songs, I would sing Yankee Doodle. They made it across, I did 4 days with Wednesday off. I will never forget that ride. We all had more fun, more companionship. It was a great experience after the 87 ROC which I would just as soon forget. Go Joe. LOL Jeanie Aww, shucks ... thankee, ma'am. <blush> That Shore to Shore was one fantastic trip, though, wasn't it? OK, I'll tell a story about it. Rhoda Ritter started that ride and was the manager. And who'da thunk it, Michigan has sand! About day three we (two southern gals and I, who were riding together) asked Rhoda if the trail would be less sandy on Day 4, and she assured us it was. NOT! So we wrote a song about it (I've got a videotape of the three of us singing it at a vet check): (Sung to the tune of "Mamma Tried") Rhoda said the trail was easy, so we thought we'd take a ride, But we got out on that trail, and, Rhoda lied! Rhoda lied, Rhoda lied, But we got out on that trail and Rhoda lied! The first mile was a sand dune, and the second one was too, We kept looking for good trail but, Rhoda lied! Rhoda lied, Rhoda lied, We kept looking for good trail but Rhoda lied! So go and get some rope, boys, and I'll go find a tree, We're gonna string'er up cause Rhoda lied! Rhoda lied, Rhoda lied, We're gonna string'er up cause Rhoda lied! Oh, that's also the ride where I came into a vet check wearing a black lace bra. But that's another story. (OH, YEAH, we had a good time on that ride ... ) One more thing ... I LOVED the '87 ROC. One of the two toughest rides I've ever done, but what a gorgeous trail! -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxx http://www.rnbw.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
