Re: [RC] Twitch for loading - superpatAmanda, Maybe you can enlighten me as to why you seem resistant to actually working with your gelding and taking the time to train him. There have been many ideas offered, but still it seems that you are casting about for the "easy" way. Pat Parelli offers that you should take the time it takes so that you don't have to take more time (or something along those lines). Please save yourself and your horse possible injury or worse and if you are not willing to take the time, hire a good trainer. It should not cost nearly as much as vet or medical bills. I would just put the trailer in his pasture or back it to his paddock and put his food in it for a while so that he learns it is a good place to be. Much easier on you and him and safer. Good luck Bette A. Perez wrote:I recently posted re: my troublesome TWH gelding who walks right one the trailer but backs right off if I leave his head. The recent posts have made me wonder if it is wortwhile trying a twitch to teach him to stand still once loaded? I have seen twitches which are designed to be attached to a cross tie so it does not have to be held on to. My objective here is to just get him used to standing on the trailer: no eating, no backing off: just stand. Also was wondering of Ace or quietex might help him not be quite so nervous while on the trailer.
