[RC] re: teaching to Pony - Teresa Van HoveJennifer, You have to teach MANNY to pony (the other horse) He CANT be allowed to show any aggression when you are on his back asking him to do this. YOU ARE THE HERD BOSS whenever you're doing anything around the horses and Manny needs to leave the herd dynamics for when he and Canon are by themselves. If it takes more than Bonnie's advice to accomplish that, you'll have to find a way to carry a crop or something so you can put the 'fear of you' into him. You cant blame Canon for fearing that Manny will escalate to kicking him if you allow the initial aggression to happen. Cheers, Teresa Things go well until Manny (the more dominant) starts giving Canon (the ponied) a hard time (ears pinned, butt checking, etc.) and Canon lags behind or just plain stops. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
