If you ARE having problems with the wiring for such and old trailer, _I_ would suggest taking it in and having the thing professionally rewired-- Make them give you an estimate first!!! I didn't. The guy not only rewired the trailer, but rewired the truck, too. Then charged over $600 and claimed it was a bargain. By the end of the year, it was as if nothing had been done. The interior camper lights don't work, and if you try to hook them up, a wire under the hood catches fire! Keeps things exciting anyway. If anyone is planning on having work done in Central Ohio, don't go to the guy in Orient.
