[RC] head injuries: "I don't need to go to the hospital..." - A. PerezHaving suffered two concussions, one severe (sledding accident) one milder (fall from a horse), I personally would insist that anyone who cannot remember the details of an accident go immediately to an emergency room. Amnesia is a symptom of a concussion, which can be life- threatening. Brain swelling can continue long after the initial trauma, so seeming OK immediately after the accident does not rule out a serious injury. The judgement of someone with a concussion is impaired, and their assesment of the severity of their injury should not be relied on. If chiro's are your thing, by all means see one... AFTER the visit to the emergency room. A chiro can't do squat about a concussion, nor can one diagnose one without the appropriate tests. Personally I'd rather see an osteopath, who has a real medical education in addition to knowing adjustment techniques, but that is just my preference. ________________________________________________ Get your own "800" number Voicemail, fax, email, and a lot more http://www.ureach.com/reg/tag =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
