[RC] Stall Rest? - spiritwood@xxxxxxxxx

Hi ridecampers,
I am looking for any ideas to help a pretty fit endurance horse who has
been put on 2 weeks stall rest. He is pacing, fretting, head shaking,
calling to his friends in the field, and digging holes in his stall. He
has all the hay he can eat and a full water tub but is not drinking very
well even though he is going through a lot of hay. He eats very soupy
meals and drinks a bucket of his "tea" (warm water) after every meal, but
if he doesn't get out soon he will need psychiatric care. He is supposed
to be resting for an ankle injury but he is doing little pirouettes in the
stall and is very conversational. I am allowed to hand walk (read become a
human anchor) him to graze a bit but it is like lighting the fuse on a
rocket. any suggestions?
Becky
